Whether it’s fishing with his 8-year-old son, serving as a volunteer firefighter, or spending time with his younger brother, family and community mean the world to Jonathan. That’s why it’s important that his job pays him a steady wage, but also keeps him close to his home in Emporium, PA.
Jonathon is a solids tech who’s worked in the oil and gas industry for the past decade. While he’s had to travel to rigs far from home in the past, Jonathan now has an ace up his sleeve.
“It’s because of [Workrise, formerly RigUp] that I’m able to stay close to home,” he says. “I’m just at a point in my life where I’d really like to be near where I belong.”
In addition to sourcing jobs close to home, Jonathan also relies on Workrise for billing and networking with other companies looking to hire. “Workrise has a sourcing department which really came in handy during the slow down,” he says. “When I was down and out... they were really proactive about finding me a job and making sure I stay working.”
With Workrise, Jonathan says he’s able to bring home more money than at previous consulting firms, allowing him to better provide for his son and his brother.
“Workrise empowers me by putting the power in my hands,” he says. "Essentially I’m my own boss. I decide when I get paid, I decide when and where I work, and I really feel like I’m in charge of my own life.”
Jonathan’s strong appreciation for community extends to the rig—the comradery is one of his favorite aspects of the job. “You work so much with these people that they’re basically family. It makes safety a lot easier when you actually care about the people who are working next to you,” he says.
We’re honored to be part of Jonathan’s community, and to provide an important support network for him and his family.
